Pigeons chosen for PIPA auction and buyback options announced

Victoria Falls WCPR has published the list of pigeons selected to be sent to the PIPA auction and stated that pedigree papers must reach their organizations by 10 July. Pedigree papers can be uploaded to the site or, if sent physically, will be uploaded by the organization.

According to the source, alternative auction platforms are being sought for the remaining pigeons not listed on PIPA; additional information will be shared when suitable arrangements are made. The condition that pedigree papers must have been received by 10 July for inclusion in these auctions remains in place.

Three options were offered for pigeons not listed on PIPA: if an auction house that accepts the pedigrees is found, the pigeons can be transferred there; activators (the active owner of the pigeon) may buy the bird back by paying US$300 plus shipping and quarantine costs if they wish to reclaim it. Only activators have the right to this buyback.

Regarding additional charges, it was stated that extra fees will apply only for shipments to the USA; these cover quarantine in Zimbabwe, quarantine on entry to the USA, and the costs of shipping to the USA. The buyer will be responsible for arranging and paying for shipping and quarantine after the bird reaches the USA. An initial deposit of US$500 may be requested before quarantine begins in Zimbabwe, and the total additional cost could be US$600 or more.

If activators want to place the bird in a farm station, they can buy it back for US$150. Third-party enthusiasts who wish to take reserve pigeons into the farm station can apply by email from 11 July and purchase them for US$150 on a first-come, first-served basis; for birds with acceptable pedigrees the activator's share of the sale will be recorded as a receivable to them.

Some unsold birds will be kept as trackers, while others will be distributed. A list of 82 registered pigeons to be sent to the PIPA auction has been published; interested parties are invited to submit their pedigree papers on time and follow the organization's further announcements.
