NPO's digitalization project group presented an application draft that focuses on making the race process simpler and more reliable beyond the races' technical infrastructure. The new article summarizes how the digital race organization would work in practice.
In the future, the goal is for members, racing pigeons, registration (basketing / inkorven) and arrival data to work more harmoniously together. By securely recording the data once and sharing it between different systems, many manual steps and checks will be reduced; associations' administrative burden and race operations will become more efficient.
The article also outlines the stages a bird would follow in the digital chain: registration as a racing pigeon, checks during inkorven (delivery of the birds / basketing), processing of arrival data, and from that the calculation of results and championship standings.
The proposed roadmap is not yet fully complete. Although the NPO Management has approved the direction, some components need further development, testing and evaluation before being implemented.
Detailed information about the role of electronic detection systems and the concrete impacts for associations and breeders has been compiled on NPO's digitalization page; the full text is available in that section.
