ROK's Alttierreise 2026 report

ROK published the report it prepared on Alttierreise 2026 and thanked the regional associations and the managements of the traveling associations for their cooperation. The support of the Essen central office in the procedures was highlighted; the contributions of Mareike Kühntopp and Tobias Klütsch were particularly emphasized.

ROK stated that it consisted of three people and that it carried out an independent audit while also serving in an advisory capacity. It noted that at no stage were they influenced by the Präsidium and that decisions were made with professional judgment.

The report stated that during Alttierreise three doping controls were carried out, 28 preventive inspections and one loft check were performed, and that all checks and inspections were completed without any adverse findings. It was also reported that during the trip one Einsatzstelle (release/start point) had to be closed.

Common procedural questions were clarified by examples: vaccination lists must be carried in the vehicle in original form; although there is no official mandatory minimum number for an Einsatzstelle, the regional association must determine minimum conditions in advance (for example at least 5 breeders and at least 150 pigeons); it was reminded that traveling with pigeons belonging to two different persons/lofts is possible but the two lofts must be no more than 100 meters apart.

The consequences of technical failures were also covered: cases where some breeders' awards could not be recognized due to failure to replace the batteries in the radio clocks or similar technical malfunctions were reiterated. It was also stated that, as a result of flight restrictions imposed by the FSK due to adverse weather conditions, some flights that did not meet the kilometer requirements were removed from scoring.

ROK emphasized that appointment procedures must be carried out only by the Obmann elected by the RV general assembly and via the RV computer, using software approved by the federation. It warned that otherwise sanctions such as closure of the Einsatzstelle or the complete exclusion of breeders from evaluation could be applied.

It was noted that regional associations experienced problems submitting travel plans on time and completely, that Newcastle disease restrictions and variable weather conditions made this season difficult; it was also pointed out that extending the trip during seasonal heat waves is only possible if there is a prearranged reserve flight or a clear deadline. ROK generally found the season positive, called for joint solutions on issues seen as lacking, and stated they are ready to provide support if needed.

Gut Flug! On behalf of ROK, Michael Göttel, Vice President.
